Preliminary schedule 2013

This course is designed for PhD students and postdocs who are interested in learning more about innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization. The course provides the tools needed and knowledge about how to identify if a research idea could be turned into a successful business idea. It gives an introduction to the NABC concept (need, approach, benefit and competition) and covers the challenges of starting a life-science company. Participants will learn about different topics critical for successfully founding, financing and operating a life-science company. The course will provide an overview of the industry and discuss how to recognize a business opportunity, how to obtain financing, work with venture capitalists, secure intellectual property and business development. Students will meet representatives from the innovation system and have discussions with entrepreneurs. The students shall perform two projects. First the students shall perform a market screening and market analysis which will be reported in the middle of the course. The final project will be oriented to the preparation and presentation of actual business plans. Time: Thursdays 13.15-16.00 from Sept. 5 to Dec. 12, 2013 at Center for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
